Who are Beavers?

Beavers are young people aged 6 to 8 who meet every week to try new activities, make friends and begin their Scouting adventure.

• Master new skills and try new things.

• Help others and make a difference in their community.

The Beaver Scout Promise

Once a Beaver has attended for a few weeks, they can formally join the colony by making their promise in front of the group.

The promise is an important part of becoming a Beaver. It helps young people understand kindness, respect, doing their best and being part of something bigger.

Uniform

Beavers wear a turquoise sweatshirt with a Group necker. Uniform helps young people feel part of the colony and proud to belong to 465th Manchester Scouts.

Helping others

Beavers work as a team to help other people in their local community and beyond. Whether they are supporting a friend, caring for the environment or taking part in a group challenge, they learn that small actions can make a big difference.

Structure

The 465th Beaver Colony is organised into smaller groups called lodges. These lodges are based on birds. These groups help Beavers take part in activities, build confidence and learn how to work with others.

• Starling’s Spring.
• Blackbird’s Brook.

Badges

Beavers can earn a range of badges and challenge awards to recognise their achievements. These badges celebrate trying new things, learning skills and taking part in activities.

What do Beavers get up to?

Being a Beaver is all about growing and learning in small but mighty ways. Beavers explore, play, create, help others and take part in activities that build confidence.

Exploring the great outdoors

Beavers spend time outside with their colony. They might explore nature, play games, build dens, visit new places or take part in simple outdoor challenges.

Trying new activities and learning new things

Beavers learn by doing. Instead of only learning from books, they discover the world through exploring, making, playing and working together.

Every week, Beavers gather to take part in games and activities, achieve new things and have fun with their friends.
