The Cub Scout Promise
When a Cub joins the Pack, they make their promise in front of the group. This is a special moment where they show that they are ready to be part of Cubs.
The promise helps Cubs think about doing their best, helping others, showing kindness and making a positive contribution to their community and the wider world.
The Cub Scout Motto
Be prepared.
Uniform
Cubs wear a green sweatshirt with a Group necker. Uniform helps young people feel part of the Pack and proud to belong to 465th Manchester Scouts.
Helping others
Cubs work as a team to help other people locally and beyond. They learn that their actions can make a difference, whether they are supporting a community project, caring for the environment or helping someone in their Pack.
Structure
The 465th Cub Pack is organised into smaller groups called Sixes. Each Six helps Cubs take part in activities, build confidence and learn how to work together as a team.
Within a Pack, Cubs may be supported by a Sixer and a Seconder. These are Cubs who help welcome others, support activities and take on small leadership responsibilities.
Our Cub Sixes are:
- Red Six.
- Blue Six.
- Green Six.
- Yellow Six.
Badges
Cubs can earn a range of badges and challenge awards to recognise their achievements. These badges celebrate adventure, creativity, teamwork, practical skills and trying new things.
Learn moreWhat do Cubs get up to?
Being a Cub is all about growing, learning and having adventures with friends. Cubs take part in activities that help them become more confident, more curious and more independent.
Going on adventures
Cubs spend plenty of time exploring the outdoors. They might build dens, go on hikes, take part in camps, play wide games or try outdoor challenges with their Pack.
Learning new skills
Cubs learn by doing. They may try cooking, first aid, teamwork challenges, creative projects, science activities, problem-solving games and practical skills that help them grow.
Trying new activities
Every week, Cubs gather to take part in interesting and challenging activities. It is all about giving things a go, learning from mistakes and having fun along the way.
